During set periods of time, families will be matched to a preschool provider by the online Colorado Universal Preschool Program (CUPP). The CUPP website will open 1/17/2023. Children are matched to available CUPP slots using criteria created by the Colorado Department of Early Childhood. The criteria take into consideration the family’s choice, eligibility, and “weighted priorities" (e.g., if a family is already enrolled at the program or a sibling is in the school/center)

Applications will be accepted starting on January 17th, 2022, for a month, and then the applications will all be matched to participating CUPP schools. The first matching round will be communicated roughly February 15th - March 15th, 2023.

Additional match-rounds will occur every two weeks for applications received through March 2023. Then the application will move to a rolling matching process as application volume declines. BVSD preschool Community Liaisons will help families enroll in the Preschool Learning and Enrichment program.

For example, a family with a non-qualified three-year-old that attends Preschool Learning, Enrichment and adds on Wednesdays will pay $1,435 per month ($620 + $620 + $195)

Child care monthly rates are based on the total number of school days and hours throughout the year, divided by the number of months covered. This keeps the monthly amount stable to help families plan, and the variation of child care days from month to month are averaged out.

Over the last 10 years BVSD preschool programming has seen a decline in half-day enrollment and families sharing the need for full-day preschool. BVSD created a new Preschool Learning and Enrichment program model that allows for families to enroll in a minimum of 2 days (@ 27 locations) and up to 5 days (based on space available, @ 15 locations)

BVSD provides a high-quality child center learning and enrichment day filled with developmentally appropriate play based learning, which allows for more outdoor play, center based learning, field trips, nap/rest time and free breakfast and lunch. BVSD's goal is to support you during this transition and we will allow for flexibility to help your child transition. BVSD has successfully operated full-day preschool in a handful of locations the last 5 years.

The same bell schedule as already exists in each school, plus transition time of 15 minutes before the bell, to get settled in class and bus drop off and 15 minutes after the bell for transition home.

Wednesdays are considered an “add on” day. The number of students who are able to attend is based on Enrichment ratio and staffing. The Wednesday programming will provide families with 4 hours of afternoon Enrichment and allow both Learning and Enrichment teaching teams to participate in professional development, as well as plan together during Kid Talk time.

CCAP (Colorado Child Care Assistance Program through your county of residence) and scholarships (for families who may not qualify for CCAP).

Only children with transportation as a related service on their IEP qualify for district transportation. Transportation does not bus students to/from BVSD child care enrichment programs.

Only children who reside within the attendance boundaries of Whittier, Crest View, and Flatiron, and have transportation as a related service on their IEP, qualify for district transportation.

Yes! Children from out of district can choose BVSD preschools and, if enrolled, are invited to remain in BVSD until they graduate from high school.

No. For families interested in Enrichment enrollment will be based on the cohort model, meaning Enrichment days are opposite Learning days. This will be a fixed schedule for families so as to provide consistency for students and a stable staffing and enrollment schedule. Half-day Wednesdays will be an add-on day, combining both cohorts, and capped to maintain required staffing-to-student ratios. 
       

We accept children who cannot use the bathroom independently. Our staff will work with you to develop a toilet training plan.

All BVSD students are provided free lunch during the days they attend, and free breakfast and afternoon snack are provided depending on your child's Preschool program.

BVSD Food Services serves fresh and nutritious food every day. This amounts to nearly 14,000 scratch-cooked meals each day! We use healthier, locally sourced, and organic ingredients whenever possible, and we avoid highly processed foods, high fructose corn syrup, chemicals, dyes and food additives.
All of our beef and chicken on the bone and nacho meat is hormone- and antibiotic-free and our bulk milk is local.

All enrollments must go through the State’s BridgeCare system, which is still being built. The state will have staff/employment priority in the match, with the following preference order:  continuity of care; siblings; IEP; school boundary; district boundary; staff/employment in school.

Students enrolled in Preschool  (Learning or Enrichment) programming will begin at the two-hour delay start time with the rest of the school. 

No refunds or credits will be given for school closings, days off, sick days, snow days, COVID or other health quarantines, or family vacation days. Regular tuition and fees will be charged for all absences.

This policy is in place because the cost for staff and programming remains the same when children are absent.

Preschool Learning is funded through Universal Preschool while Preschool Enrichment is a tuition based program. We are committed to creating a preschool environment that provides the best possible learning and enrichment and promotes whole-child development. 

Special education services in general, and IEP minutes specifically, are provided in the Learning classroom during the 15 hours.

If needed, ADA accommodations, 504s and health care plans are provided on the additional Enrichment classroom days.
